Hello everyone. New here having just been diagnosed with lung cancer in right lung. Not sure which type but just told I have been referred to surgeons following MDT meeting. I assume if they think it is operable there is hope but I am very anxious re op and after effects etc. Any advice welcome. Susie

  • Hi Susie, dam hard when they first tell you that you have cancer, my Xray Scan showed a cloud on my Lung was March 26th 2020, been complaining of breathing problems to my doctor for two years before, so I know what's going through your mind, you think how long Have I to live, it is a horrible time what you are going through, all here have been through it.

I remember thinking should I have a Wild time and spend any money I had.

I just thought I would be dead in a few months, glad I did not, as would have been skint by now.

Just life dealing a crual game of cards, hard finding the strength to cope many ups and downs.

I wish you all the best Susie, and my love is with you at this dark hour of your life.

Once you know, what your diagnosis is then you can prepare yourself, so wait until you know what that is before any thoughts of doom as I am still kicking and riding my electric assisted bicycle.

All the best for the future.Xx

  • Also Lung Cancer is not an untreatable for many.

So in the words of the lyrics of Moty Python, Always look on the bright side of life.

    Xx

Hello Mam37 and "welcome" to the club no-one wants to be in. Your mind will be all over the place at the moment. One piece of advice is to stay away from googling your condition as the info received may not be current and, in some cases, untrue. You will have a better understanding once you have spoken to your consultant regarding treatment options. Being referred for surgery should be regarded as a positive as this would not happen unless there were strong reasons why it should be done. Take someone with you to consultancy meetings as they will help with remembering all the information you will get. Once you know the plan you will feel more in control. Remember, there are people on this site who have been living with cancer far longer than I have - and I am now 30 months post diagnosis (Stage 4).

    Stay strong and positive

    John

  • Hi Mam37  I was diagnosed with lung cancer also In my right lung incurable? They did try to operate but it had gone to far. I thought my world had ended. But it was treatable, I'm am now on chemo tablet and leading and loving and happy life. So Mam37 it's not the end as BCJ has said just look on the brighter side of life. Good luck

Thank you all for the messages to each other.  I'm waiting to find out whether 2 lesions, which were 1cm each within 1 lung are secondary cancer. The wait is agony, so scared.  Imagining the worst, so it's so helpful to read of others living with this and responding to treatment. Got breathing tests Monday and hoping to keep more info. Best wishes
