Hi, My 87yrs young Mum has waited 5 months for positive diagnosis of Lung cancer.. We are awaiting appointments for Oncologist in the mean time she has developed a chest cough after biopsy.. Can anne recommend an over the countet cough mixture suitable.. Many thanks.. Pippin
Hi Pippinoodle, welcome to the group, but so sorry to hear about your mum. Sorry to hear as well that it has taken 5 months to get to this point.
I have yet to find any cough medicine to help with my cough, and believe me I tried a lot, especially before my diagnoses. I wonder if the cough has started because the lung is maybe irritated from the biopsy? Does she currently have any inhalers that she uses at the moment? If not it might be worth talking to her GP, but I hope this settles down for her.
I hope everything goes well at the oncology appointment.
Hi Pippinoodle I had a terrible cough for weeks after a bronchoscopy and an Ebus and I put that down to the interference rather than the actual cancer. If you have ever has so much as tiny crumb inhaled you will understand . My Oncologist prescribed Codeine tablets but there is also a codeine medicine but the tablets work well for me - the medicine doesn't last very long. I hope she gets some relief x
