Hi got my official diagnoses today, feeling very overwhelmed and not sure where to turn

i knew weeks ago it was coming so wasn't quite expecting the feeling of being told, it was like a ton of bricks, was sobbing and shaking for several hours afterwards

I have low sodium due to the cancer so if anyone else has that would love to hear how you deal/dealt with it, finding fluid restriction hard and quite frankly after the news i got today i just want to have a few drinks, was also taken off my anti depressants because of this and could really do with them right now lol

I am on my own, so have very little support so hoping I can get some of that from this forum

all I really took in from today was small cell, chemo and radiotherapy, appt Monday with oncologist, anything else said didn't stick, bit annoyed to get this on a Friday as well, its not like anything can happen over the weekend, couldn't they have left me in ignorance for a few more days

Sorry to see this post and I hope you are as 'ok' as you can be this morning.

I don't have anything to offer in terms of experience (I am here because of my partner)  but from what I have seen, I think you will find some support here and I hope it helps you.

The waiting is so difficult, it's very individual as well; some people prefer to know and will start investigating to be informed before seeing an Oncologist, others want to be told about things and then follow up. I guess it's not ever going to be right.

My partner has been taking steps to maintain his wellbeing which includes meditation and breathing technique. The breathing technique served him very well when he was undergoing his Radiotherapy treatment to his head for the secondary cancer sites. I know that it's not for everyone but it is a recommended option for people with various stress, anxiety etc so it might help with you having to stop antidepressants.

Anyway, hopefully you can get some support here and I hope that your appointment on Monday goes as well as possible.

    Take care
