Hello everyone

I am new to the group and have just been reading about your journeys and treatment. It comes as a comfort to hear about others that are going through the same thing as it can feel lonely at times, although I wish for your sakes you weren’t.

I was diagnosed with NSC metastasis Lung Cancer in February this year after visiting my GP with a ‘nagging’ dry cough that I couldn’t shift.

The diagnosis came as a huge shock as I have been a lifelong non smoker, relatively fit 65 yr old with no other medical issues.

I am mid second cycle on Tagrisso and so far the side effects have been manageable, upset stomach, dry mouth and nose and fatigue. I’ve been prescribed a mouthwash called Difflam and use Sterimar nasal spray which has helped if anyone else has similar side effects. Encouraging I rarely cough now and don’t suffer with any whizzing at the moment.

The cancer has spread to my spine and there are a few small mets elsewhere. I was offered bone strengthners by my Oncologist but he was also keen for me to wait and let the meds do their work so that’s where I am at the moment.

I wish you all the very best with your treatment.

  • Hi NannyH Wwlcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. I am glad to hear that you are managing well on the Tagrisso. There are a couple of people in the group who are also on this medication.  If you type tagrisso into the search bar at the top of the page, you can see where other people have mentioned this treatment.

I hope you continue to do well on the tagrisso, and look forward to chatting to you more in the group.
