Hi i thought that I had a chest infection and it turned out to be stage 4 lung cancer!1
II have a a roller coaster of a ride and started Immunotherapy - pembrolizumba - on Tuesday. it was my Birthday!!
I am not feeling so good but I have no idea of how I am meant to feel
Hi Kingfisher73 and welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. It is such a shock when you are given a cancer diagnoses.
That wasn't the best birthday present starting treatment on your birthday. I haven't had immunotherapy myself so sorry I can't give you any advice on this. You can always phone your lung nurse to check that your symptoms are normal. Or you can phone the Macmillan support line for advice, on 0808 808 00 00. They are there 7 days a week from 8am til 8pm.
Take care
Hi Kingfisher73 - Belated birthday greetings to you! I have been on the same treatment since last August, I find it so much better to have than when I was on chemo 10 years ago, chemo is quite savage and you do feel ill on it, with immunotherapy it seems to be much kinder to the body and not as nasty. There are side effects, there are quite a list of them but it is pot luck as to which if any may affect you! - for me the worst has been fatigue and breathlessness (worse than on my COPD) .
Best thing is to just note what happens to you in the weeks after treatment and mention this to them when you go back for your next session. Like you I am stage 4, my tumour was 47mm when I started treatment, after 10 months it has shrunk to 34mm, so the treatment clearly works - and I can get on with life and not be suffering the after effects of chemo!
Hope it all goes well for you - by all means get in touch if I can be of any further help. Just remember, on every treatment they are pumping £5000 of drugs into you - so yes, you are worth it!
Margaret
