Hi, I'm new to the group and just this week been diagnosed with lung cancer x

  • Hi Olli, welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here.  Do you know what type of lung cancer you have? Have you been given a treatment plan yet?

Lots of people in this group who are able to share their experience with you. If you click on our username or profile picture, you can go to our profile and read about our own journeys so far.

    Take care

Thanks so much for the welcome.  I've no idea what kind it is but they do plan the remive it. They tell ne its not too big at the moment.  I'm having a lung function test tomorrow a PET scan Thursday and a CT Saturday so may know more after that

    Thank you x

  • The early days with all of the tests and waiting for results is so stressful. We've all been there, we know what it's like. Once all your tests results are back, there will be an MDT meeting. This is where your Oncologist and a team of specialists meet to discuss your results and decide which treatment plan will be best for you. You will be told the decision very soon after this meeting. Once you know what you are facing, you will start to feel better. The unknown seems to be the hardest.

Good luck with all of your tests.

    Hi Olli,

I was diagnosed last year around this time and so truly understand where you are in the pathway to finding out what is happening. I felt like all the control dropped off a cliff and suddenly my life felt robbed. I was afraid actually. I feel if I could go back in time what I'd say to myself is this...'You are not the first person that has found themselves in this position so take heart, and there is a well known process that the experts have dedicated their lives to working out for people just like you...they will use all the knowledge and resources at their disposal to help you.  The experts need the time they need to be certain of the best route for you to follow based on their experience. Don't feel rushed, make choices from a place of strength not from fear.  All you need to do is to believe in the process".

Well, that's what I'd say anyway.

I had a surgical removal of my tumour. A lower VATS lobectomy for a Stage 3 Adenocarcinoma. Thankfully it had not spread. This is my first anniversary. I go for a CT check on Saturday so send me your blessings back xxxx
