I,m 58M and have stage 4 Squamous Cell NSC Carcinoma 47mm mass in left lung central, its spread to x3 nodes and my left adrenal gland, ive posted before but thought i would update.
x4 rounds of chemo / immunotherapy completed 2 weeks ago.
My CT scan results were phoned through to me today, by a nurse.
Original tumor size 4.7cm x 3.3cm
New size 1.4cm x 1.5cm
Nodes have reduced but no dimensions, no information on adrenal gland.
So basically Ai states its a 70% reduction in linear dimensions but a 96% reduction in volume, im unsure how it worked that out or where that places me on a success so far scale.
Hi Mark,
That’s a really good result, you must be pleased with that. Looks like the nodes are shrinking and the adrenal gland will probably be having a good reduction in size because the main tumour is the lung so if it’s working there it will be working of the others because they have come from the main tumour, they are the same make up. Just concentrate on the reduction in size, I do remember showing results from an early scan to my brother who was very impressed with the reduction of volume, (no me neither) he did try to explain but lost me completely. I didn’t get measurements off my oncologist, I used to ring my lung nurse for measurements, (you just need to know don’t you), I think oncologists just look for growth or shrinkage.
That’s a really good result and hopefully you get to carry on with the immunotherapy now and that will be easier.
So it’s all looking good and you must feel better in yourself, keep us updated
P.S. do you still get to meet Dr Death
Hi Julie, Thank you yes i am pleased but obvioulsy keeping it real, i have immunotherapy now for two years the first is on friday.
Could i dare hope for a further reduction or even NED i just do not know, Ai tells me i could be classed as oligometastatic. which apprently means maybe curable, thats a big ask though.
All i want to do is get a bit older and die in the Maltese sun one day with a cold beer, im hoping thats not too much to ask
Dr Death is seldom seen,
But in the silence you will hear him -
A whisper, a step, a breath behind you.
Who is this Ai you are talking to, is he a good friend, have you known him long, I would be a bit careful and not easily accept all he tells you
That looks like an excellent base to start 2 years immunotherapy to me.
Well done and my best wishes for a successful second round hitting it while it's down.
Derek.

Thank you Derek,
Julie just read your last results were good on your profile so pleased for you.
Im going to ask for a print off of my radiology report tomorrow at immunotherapy, so should know more as obviously my consultant doesnt feel the need to share details in depth.
Next week will be interesting to see how i feel after immunotherapy only, chemo / immuno was becoming a real drag.
Thanks, do let us know how you get on.
All the best.

Your oncologist should want to see you before treatment starts to sign consent forms, or have you already done that.
