Hi all,
it’s been a while since I last posted but thought I would give an update on how I’ve been doing and hopefully give someone a bit of hope,
I was diagnosed with lung cancer in may 2025 and went in for a Pneumonectomy on June 3rd, all went well and I stayed in hospital for just over a week. Since coming home I haven’t pushed myself too hard just done as my body would allow after been home for a few weeks I did four rounds of chemotherapy which left me a little groggy to say the least but I plodded on, I then started my year of immunotherapy but that has given me a couple of hard times so I’ve had to have a couple of breaks, I have just had my 3rd round and thankfully so far so good because if I had a bad reaction this time my oncologist is going to stop it altogether ( thankfully this is belts and braces treatment) but upto now I’m ok.
i went back to work full time just before Christmas and we also got a puppy, a red fox Labrador as a bit of a therapy dog for me and he hasn’t disappointed he makes me go out for my daily walks, which was why I got him to make me exercise, I also have my hubby and two sons to help I don’t do it all myself. All in all I feel pretty good in myself I’m glad I had the surgery because without it goodness knows where I’d be today, I’ve had good and bad days aches and pains but mostly all good so for anyone just starting this new journey try not to despair and try and stay positive as staying positive really is a big part of getting through it and a big thank you to everyone who helped me at the beginning of my journey excavator sticks in my memory and solo 19, I thank you all though from the bottom of my heart for your wisdom and kind words that helped me get through it all because without you all I’d have been a mess. Xxx

Hello Tracey (Holiday hopeful),
Thank you very much for your uplifting post, I'm delighted to hear that you're doing well and being so positive. Long may it continue.
What date in June did you have surgery? Mine was 10th June (2014). I also had 4 rounds of chemo as a safeguard but there was no such thing as immunotherapy then, so I was spared that. I hope you can complete your course without further problems.
Keep up the good work, things will continue to recover for you.
With best wishes,
Derek.

Hi Derek,
hope you are well, I went into hospital on 1st June as I had to have a brain scan then my op was on Tues 3rd June I think it was 10th June I came home. I have spoken to various people over this past year about how you had your surgery in 20-4 and so that in itself gave me hope, like I said in my earlier post it hasn’t all been roses and I’m still recovering in some ways but getting better every day.
