Does anyone know is there a certain area on the lung where most cancerous nodules are located?  I’m very worried for my husband. Having just been treated for hpv pos head and neck   Before his treatment which was end of November for that they see a lung nodule that will not be checked until April.

  • Hi  nodules can appear anywhere on the lung, and they are not always cancer, some nodules are completely harmless. My dad has had nodules on his lungs for several years that cause him no concern at all. Very often when a lung nodule is discovered, the medical team do decide to watch and wait, to see if any changes occur in that area.

  • I know. I just am worried because I was a smoker and it showed up right before treatment for head and neck started. Now they cannot check the nodule til I’m clear for my pet scan in April.

  • That's really small, mine was 11mm and still 'easily' removed. They are quite likely to be waiting for the later scan to see if it's growing. Seems that upper right lobe is, apparently, the most common place. There's a pretty useful explanation here: health.clevelandclinic.org/chances-lung-nodule-spot-cancer

  • Hi Wave I was a smoker and my nodule was found incidentally in the ER. I have other ones as well, the cancer one was spikulated which is a highly suspicious one and the other ones I have were round, they said they were benign. I was hospitalized again just recently and had a CAT SCAN of my chest done and 2 more were discovered. I don’t know what they are, but I go for my infusion tomorrow and hopefully they will tell me something.

  • I have had lung modules since 2014 all have been stable until pay 9 months until the right upper nodule doubled in size after every 3-6 months watch via CT. Had a PET scan end of last month showed an SUV of 2.7 and left cervical lymph node 6.5. when attempted to biopsy Dr could not obtain enough sample to test after 4 fine needle passes. Just be sure to keep an eye on them.
