Started my first day of chemo and radiotherapy together .The nurses are so wonderful and on your first day it helps so much everyone is so kind at the Marsden .
The radio first session takes a long time setting up all the parameters and with lungs if you can do deep breaths you have a snorkle so your lungs don t move so direct hit (interesting fact) so managed that fine .Straight onto chemo .Lots of anti-sickness medication then for me an hours chemo and then a wash through so probably 3 hours in total We were given tea and lunch trolley lovely lay Back chairs so made us very comfortable with my visitor .was given all my drugs to take home a f/up pill form of chemo and back on the 8 th day for blood tests and consult .i just thought I would document this as you can’t find many notes on here for actual procedures of people having them both together .I went for 2 nd radio today and a bit traumatic as snorkel not working and too many deep breaths so I ll have to practise at home with my grandsons snorkel ?.They think I m strong enough to do this so I m going to give it a good try I have 8 lovely grandchildren to make me smile .I will try and keep this updated .Not sure if people are interested but I will see if any responses If it helps one person that’s ok
3rd session of radio today went much better so hopefully another good day I have been hearing a lot of comments about anti sickness pills about causing diviculitus or other blockages does anyone know about this ?
Hello Kingston,
Your post is very interesting and documenting your experiences of these treatments will be really useful for others already on or about to embark on them.
Have you thought about writing a blog on here? I did this for some treatment I had throughout last year, if you're interested click on blogs at the top of the page and set one up, you can then document each stage of your treatment all in one place.
I hope your treatment goes well and is a complete success.
Derek.
