Just wondered if it is normal to have a sore throat and slight hoarseness six months after lung cancer surgery. If I overtalk or spend time with a crowd for more than an hour, like a dinner party, social group etc - my voice feels hoarse and throat gets sore. Has anyone else had this experience?
On a more positive note walking at least 10 to 15k steps a day really helps breathing......
thanks
Hello rosie fish,
I recall being just the same after my surgery (had right lung removed) and it went on for at least a year or so before gradually geting back to normal. Eventually it wore off, I wouldn't be worried about it but if you are perhaps talk to your CNS for some reassurance?
It's excellent that you're walking so much, I firmly believe this is essential to better breathing and longer term recovery.
All the best,
Derek.
Thank you for responding Derek, pleased to learn from your experience that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sounds like you have made a very good recovery. I guess I have to be a bit more patient and hope this discomfort passes. I will talk to the surgeon when I see him in December....
Walking, cycling, out door swimming have been pivotal in my recovery and I do at least two of those activities each day and its certainly aided recovery.
Its been so much tougher than expected, but I am so grateful with all the support and care the NHS and everyone else has given me.
