Hi All
Mum was diagnosed with stage 2b non small cell 9th august 2023, three weeks later diagnosed with primary grade 2 breast cancer. Lower left lobectomy 3rd October 2023 , lumpectomy 19th December 2023. She’s just about to finish 16 rounds of chemo and then have 15 radios to her breast. Clear scan results for lung in may 2024.
she’s been through it alright! Anyway the lung surgeon said on the phone the other day when we spoke he’s happy with the scan results and doesn’t want to do another lung scan till may 2025, 12 months since the previous one which really doesn’t sit right with me so thinking of paying for a private one.
Hoping to meet with the lung oncologist soon as the breast oncologist has kind of taken over.
just curious to know peoples thoughts x
Hello Laurak,
My first scan after surgery was at 6 months which was clear - then the next one was 12 months later just the same as ypur Mum.
I believe they don't want to do too many scans because of the exposure to radiation each time.
My best wishes to your Mum for a successful outcome.
Derek.
