Hi SuperLeeds
I am sorry that you have not yet had a reply to your question but sometimes it can take a little longer for someone who has had the same treatment regime to see it and offer support.
In the meantime, why not give the Support Line a call tomorrow (the nurses are there from 8am-8pm daily) and they can answer any medical questions about the side effects your husband is unfortunately having with his treatment.
Although my treatment was for a different type of cancer I did have chemotherapy and one of the same drugs that your husband is having. I also had the steroids. I found that I felt quite unwell when the steroid dose dropped off suddenly on the last day and was offered a tapering dose by my consultant. It may well be worth asking your husbands consultant whether it may help him. I often had fatigue and found the best thing was to go with the flow and sleep/rest as much as I needed. Normally I also began to pick up after the first week. Plenty of fluids helped.
Nausea is a common effect of several cancer treatments and I know that during my chemo I needed to take the medication regularly. I was told to take at the first sign of any queasiness and not let it build up. I found lemon and sharp tasting drinks took away the icky feeling at times. Flat lemonade. Slices of lemon in water. I also found those little thin biscuits that taste of ginger that are around at Christmas time helped a bit.
I am pleased that your husbands last scan was encouraging. Remember also that he should have a 24 hour cancer helpline during treatment that you can call if you have any concerns. It helped me sometimes, just to get a bit of reassurance.
Jane
