Hubby has completed 2 years of immunotherapy with great results. However one side effect that is ongoing is itchy, scratchy eyes.  He has tried different eye creams but the issue continues. Has anyone else had this side effect and what treatment did you use to relieve symptoms. Any ideas welcome. Thanks

  • Hi Bubs,

    Ah, that depends...

If you're talking about eyelids rather than eyeballs then I had good results with swabbing (carefully!) with Clean&Clear Deep Cleansing Sensitive Lotion - it has Salicylic Acid as the active ingredient (also present in Neutrogena Clear&Defend Face Wash).

Glad to see the immuno has worked.

    kind regards

  • Hi Steve, no its the eyes themselves, particularly at night. He has tried all sorts of eye drops/ointment but it may be something he has to live with. A small price compared with the alternative. Considering he has gone from stage 4 lung cancer with mets 2 1/2 years ago) to now being stable for 9 months he gas done extremely well.

  • Hi Bubs,

Oh no - that sounds maddening.

My mum had itchy eyes as a side effect from her meds - she had something called Viscotears eye drops on prescription to ease it. She couldn't get it for a long time because there were supply issues but Boots seem to have it in stock again now.

I still have a few lingering side effects myself from the immuno - as you say it's better than the alternative.

    kind regards
    Steve

  • Hi yes I’ve had this side affect but I used optrex eye wash  for itchy and sore eyes  . Hope this helps in some way .
