Oh bless you Kezza104 I know how scary all this is for you. The not eating and sleeping a lot could be down to the stress of everything you are going through, but do mention it to your GP. He should also prescribe you with a an inhaler that could help with the cough, if he hasn’t already.
All of the tests and results take such a long time! And the waiting is agonising. Hopefully you won’t have to wait too much longer and you can get the treatment you need. There are so many treatments for lung cancer now, so these tests are important to make sure you get the best treatment for you.
Please let us know how you get on.
Hello Kezza, so sad to hear what you're going through but do keep your spirits up and stay as positive as you can.
I have just been through lung cancer treatment. I don't know if its gone, waiting for scan, but the team who treated me were so supportive and kind. Once I was diagnosed, after scans and pet scan, treatment followed quite quickly. It's important to trust your care team, they want to help and cure you.
Take all the rest you need, sleep or even just lying down, is healing. Let others help you, they want to. Eat healthy food when you can eat to build you up in preparation for treatment.
Wishing you the strength to get through this and love all around you.
Maria
Hey Kezza104 my cancer journey started very similar to yours - the waiting for tests and results seemed like an eternity. My lung specialist nurses were amazing and still are - they got me into see my GP when I wasn’t sleeping for example (which was definitely down to the stress and steroids I was on for my brain met).
I was pretty up front with my family (even with my 3 little ones) during my early diagnosis so they understood when I needed a bit of space and time to rest. I also changed my diet slightly and ate little and more often if I could.
Make sure you keep talking and reaching out when you feel low or like a mess - 100% those of us who’ve been diagnosed will have felt the same at some stage.
It’s the toughest of times but you’ll surprise yourself with your strength x
