Hi everyone. Not been here for awhile as been recovering from two major surgeries. First one was the 1/2/24 when I had to have half my left lung removed and 2nd one was 20/3/24 when I had a laproscopy as they had to check my overies as at that time they thought the cancer in both pelvis had come from there. Results have shown both my overies are abnormal so need them removed & will also need a hysterectomy. My may concern now is I've been reading about this& it says having overies removed can cause cardiovascular problems. Any help or reassurance on this would be appreciated.
Hi XBREEZEX I had my hysterectomy in 2009 and have no cardiovascular issues, in fact the risk of this has never been mentioned by medical team. It did throw me into medical menopause though, and the effects of that have been hard, and I now have osteopenia from having low estrogen. I think it depends on your age on how severe the menopausal symptoms are, I was 39 at the time, and I am on aromatase inhibitors to block the estrogen.
Morning chellesimo. Thankyou so much for your reply. Good to know that you've not had any issues with cardiovascular since you hysterectomy' sorry that you had to have that at such a young age. I have been going through the menopause since 2016 when I was put on tamoxifen ( which caused my menopause to kick in)after my breast cancer so I'm hopeing the loss of the, estrogen won't be as bad. Note to myself is not to go on dr Google but come on here or speak to my specialist nurse. X
