Good morning! I’m having a PET CT scan today and I’m quite nervous about it. Well, not nervous about the scan but nervous about the results. How long does it normally take for the results to come back? I wish I could go back 3 weeks when I thought I just had trapped wind.
Hi Welliboot it can take 7-10 days for the result. Do you have any other tests booked? If not I would think you would get an appointment date soon for the results. The waiting really is the worst bit! Good luck today.
Hi Chelle
I had a breathing test and a walking test and an echocardiogram last Thursday, got the pet ct scan today - they mentioned about a lung biopsy but I've not heard anything else about that.
That all sounds like normal practice. The PET scan will determine if it is cancer and where it is, the biopsy will tell them the information they need to know as to what type of cancer it is. This can take time unfortunately, and they do tend to get all tests and results together before they can tell you a treatment plan.
I can tell you I think each hospital has a group meeting with all the specialists together so all your results are seen together and a plan of action Ours is held every Monday and hopefully your hospital is the same
As the info you have been given here was exactly the same for me
