The operation went well 2 weeks ago am home at daughters and scared first couple of days ok then got really sleepy last day or so the just ate loads and feel miserable. I'm scared and I dont know what of. Am just so scared of not making it or something. I'm trying to be positive but am struggling to breath alittle and that scares me . Just dont know
Hi Frazzled
Am pleased that you have been discharged and are now at your daughters to recover.
I would think that it is natural to feel tired after such a big operation and have such worries.
It is good that you are trying to keep positive but if you are feeling particularly breathless I would recommend that you give your doctor a call/ or NHS111 and get it checked. Explain that you have had surgery for lung cancer and it was 2 weeks ago and you are breathless. Have you got any discharge paperwork with a number to call on? They would be able to reassure you or if necessary get you checked over.

My daughter called the ward this morning nurses say just keep an eye on it as I'm not coughing or coughing anything up. That we should just keep an eye on it. Makes me scared and nervous though I can only think of bad things happening.. just scared I suppose
That's good that your daughter called for you. I think post surgery it's always a good idea and if anything changes you can always call them again. Natural to feel scared and nervous. How are you feeling generally now? Have you felt able to able to get out for some fresh air- even if it is sitting in the garden/popping to the local shops with your daughter?
Earlier in week I went to bank. I haven't walked anywheres else as just going to the loo winds me and kinda freaks me out its getting cold out there and am terrified of getting chest infections. I'm scared of everything now.. and I just want to feel a bit normal .its been two weeks sense the surgery should I be able to walk to the shop and such? Honestly with covid on the rise I'm truly afraid of getting sick..
Depends very much where the shops are. Mine are about two minutes away. I was thinking more if your daughter was driving to the local small shop whether you could go with her in the car and just pop in that way. Little steps but makes you feel better when you are able to start getting out a bit more and seeing people. I do understand about covid though and it is scary when it seems to be on the rise. I was really worried about catching it during chemo but managed to avoid it. Caught it though at the end of radiotherapy.
We have a town garden near our shops and part of my recovery was walking there and back and sitting in the sun. I felt more comfortable as it was out in the fresh air so figured it would reduce the chances of picking anything up. I think the main thing is to try to balance it a bit- don't be afraid to go out and get a bit of fresh air but also maybe avoid really busy, closed in spaces until you are feeling a little bit more confident. Maybe get some advice from your CNS/Doctor when you next speak with them. I think the booster jabs will be coming out again soon so that will help.
I had the booster jabs when they came out. I'm just taking it easy she gas a back garden I can walk about in but that's where theyve taken their smoking to while I'm in the house so. But yeah the shops are 5 minutes by foot around the corner I just get so winded im gasping sometimes.. but I'll have a go tomorrow if it's nice out today is chilly and im just starting to get my energy back as last two days I've felt so drained.. thought I was getting sick or doing something wrong is what it had me scared..
