My partner has just completed 20sessions of radical radiotherapy on his right lung ,and lymp nodes.
we met with our oncologist who is amazing he is now on a treatment break untill the end of may in order for the radiotherapy to continue to work .He will have a scan just before we meet with our oncologist to see how things are he’s treatable but not curable .
I feel like I have a brick in my stomach dreading the end of may is this normal ?
he has done so well with the radiotherapy to look at him you wouldn’t think he was poorly , any advice how I should get through the next few weeks .
Anybody else on this path ?
Hi Mamma I can understand how you feel, having a treatment break is like having your safety blanket removed. However with radiotherapy, the treatment will keep on working in your body for several weeks after the radiotherapy has stopped. It is very normal to wait for a couple of months after radiotherapy before doing a scan, to give the treatment time to do its job.
I had very good results from radiotherapy myself. At the first 2 month scan it had shrunk by 50% and it kept shrinking for the first year. x
