Hi,

I hope everyone is having their best day Slight smile

I finished 3 rounds of Cisplatin and the other one (I forget, Ha!) in Sept 22. Been on 80mg of Osi since Oct 21. In response to surgery for a RUL , with some invasion in lymphs and vessels. Stage 2. Very lucky.

I get lack of feeling in my toes,  feet and hands/fingers. I have read/been told this may diminish as time goes on.

I take 100mg of Niacine for this and it does help improve circulation I think.

I have returned to work in Nov, phased until full time in Jan 23.

I am planning to retire soon. But in a busy, high profile job, I feel my memory is letting me down. Does chemo/OSI affect our brain cells as well? It would seem logical. It could be that emotionally, I dont want to be in the role. I have asked for a more active job. As I work in the Civil Service I had hoped they would be more supportive in moving me from a desk job (albeit working from home).

Any views/experiences?

I could Google this, but always good to hear shared experiences!

Regards,

Keith

    Hi

Hope you are having a good day. I also finished my treatment in September 22. My cancer is stable but I am stage 4 and have been advised that there is a strong chance it will return, my prognosis isn't that great either. Due to those reasons I have chosen not to return to work. But like you say, my memory is also not what it was, I have brain fog and emotional instability. I cannot think of words in a timely manner and I am still fatigued, although this has become less, it still happens often.

It may be worth speaking to the Macmillan helpline about work. I have done this myself and they were very helpful. They may be able to advise of the steps you need to take to change your role.
