Hi. I had bowel cancer removed with a LAR an Ileostomy for thirteen months which was reversed September then Ct scan showed lung modules so further chest CT then referred to Respiratory Clinic for lung function and consult
Letter arrived today
Multiple lung nodules both lungs one they may be able to take bio or may not it’s 11mm
My heir suspicion is they represent small cancer nodules
Not sure if I want to be pulled around anymore
Is the suspicion that the nodules are colorectal cancer that has spread or that they're primary lung cancer?
My lung cancer diagnosis came just after I had finished chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin lymphoma, so I understand that feeling of not wanting to get back on the rollercoaster.
That said, you don't have much information at the moment and you won't have that information without some type of further testing - whether that's rescanning in a few months, doing a PET, or trying to get a biopsy now. Are you able to have a chat with your consultant about your preferred path?
Hi
Thanks for your reply
They said that it’s not connected to the bowel cancer and they sometimes wait and see however they thought that they may be able to get a biopsy which would then help them decide what treatment was apt
I have a telephone number to call my named nurse. It’s same system as the colorectal dept.
I feel actually physically sick it’s a real slap in the face dodge one bullet only to get a rocket coming at me

People having more than one primary cancer is becoming more common as cancer treatments improve. While sometimes it's caused by treatment, in many cases it's because people live long enough to develop the cancers which come with age and sometimes it's just bad luck.
The last time I checked, something like 10% of cancer patients will develop a second type of cancer at some point in their lives. I was in the smaller group of people who have more than one type of cancer at the same time (the record seems to be a woman who had 5 different types of primary cancer simultaneously).
My lymphoma literally saved my life by revealing my lung cancer when it was still early stage and low grade.
Artsie I am so sorry, this is not the news you wanted to hear. I can fully understand the not wanting to be pulled around anymore. My lung cancer is from my primary, but when it was discovered I too had lots of little nodules throughout the lungs, as well as a large one blocking the bronchial airway. If it wasn’t for the large one we wouldn’t of known I had it all. I remember at the time I was told I could of gone years without knowing, and I thought then, I wish I had and not found out they were there, but of course we know earlier diagnoses is always best to get ahead of the game.
I think for you now, it’s the not knowing. If a biopsy is possible then at least you will know either way. Sometimes the fear of what we may have, is worse than the reality. At least once we know we can deal with it emotionally and not be left in limbo.
Let us know how you get on once you have spoken to the consultant x
Morning
Thanks for your thoughts and I totally agree with you
Last year I was in flight or fight mode and spent most of the time frozen with fear when I was having the tests needed to diagnose my rectal cancer. Then the operation which was a big thing to get over then the wait to see if it’d spread. Yippee no spread I could adjust to my stoma a live travel and enjoy life.
Now I’m back to stage flight or fight. Don’t think I’ve got the energy. So I’m going to try and ignore it. Try the wait and see approach until The end of week then phone my team to see if I’ve been discussed yet. They meet on Fridays an hour before my MDT for Bowel meet
Hope you have a good day
Ann
