Hi just would like to know if anyone gets water infections and a swollen tummy with their lung cancer? As I’ve got a uti and my tummy is swollen my tummy doesn’t hurt but it’s painful when I pee.  Because of my copd and emphysema they can’t operate, they waiting to see if the doctor at the cancer unit looks at my case to see if I could have radiotherapy? I’ve asked my McMillan nurse what if I can’t have radiotherapy what treatments will I have ? But she says we will discuss this and alternate treatments if this happens but would not say what treatments this may be? And I think I feel worse health wise since I was diagnosed? Before I was just waiting for my results and it was always in the back of my mind but that was all and now I’m coughing more I’m getting water infection my breathing is worse my sleeping is much much worse I’m having more pain in my back. I’m so sorry for twisting I just thought maybe someone may be the same, love Yvonne xx

  • Ynonne have you spoken to anyone about this water infection? They can be very nasty and you will need some antibiotics x

  • Hi yvonne

your urine infection maybe unrelated to your lung diagnosis, but as Chellismo says they can be nasty and cause you to be generally unwell. Your tummy bloating is most likely related to the urine infection & why you feel so unwell. Try to get a sample of urine (to get right antibiotic) make sure you are drinking enough (try to limit caffeine as it irritates the bladder) 8-9 glasses spread well throughout the day. I know it’s Christmas Eve, but call out of hours Dr if necessary .

hope this helps & May you feel better soon , keep us up to date !!

here’s to a happier healthier new year to all in this forum & to McMillan for being there xxx

    Good morning lovely people.

2nd CT scan on 17 April this tear (R upper lobectomy Dec. 2022) recent scan has shown my middle lobe is compressed. Having bronchial lavage on the 23rd May. Letter to GP from consultant described it as possible middle lobe syndrome,  GP unsure what this is. Regular chest infections but one in December this year & a few weeks ago really floored me. Throat is quite raw & my voice is quite hoarse. Anyone able to suggest any ideas on what's going on with me ?
