My dad has been diagnosed with stage 3 adenocarcinoma of the lung. He's had a triple bypass in the last 18 months and also has thrombosis in his legs. We're trying to find some help for house modifications. Local council assessment not available for 6 months and then are only interested in giving a chair for the shower and some hand rails.
We'll need the downstairs bathroom modified, maybe a bed downstairs, hand rails. Anything else that could help.
We live in Cardiff, South Wales. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Mich69 and welcome to the community, although sorry to hear about your dad. When we looked after my mum, the council provided the basics but sorry to hear about your 6 month wait. Could I suggest you call the Mac helpline on 0808 808 0000 ( 8-8pm). It is a free service and they have experts on hand to advise on what help, financial and practical, your dad may be entitled to.
