my mum was diagnosed today with
non small cell
Adrencarnomia.
Stage 4 tiny growth in left corner of lung and speck in adrenal gland
Treatments
Been offered are
2 types of chemo
And immunotherapy
Her biopsies reacted brilliantly to the immunotherapy,
They are also testing my mums stem cells on Sunday for a drug trial at London at uch,
If they come bk good they will put my mum on that.
She has got to have 4 rounds of chemo 3/4 weeks apart
They said it is treatable but not curable
If she walks out and has no treatment , they oncologist said she would have 9 months...
The oncologist said she looks amazing for what she has and she is strong.(she has no symptoms)
She goes bk next Thursday for results of the stem cell
If all goes to plan she will start treatment not next week ,
The week after.
and advice or similar stories,
please
thank u for reading xxxx
Hi train spotter. My cancer and treatment are completely different to your mums, so sorry I can’t give advice on that. I just wanted to say that it is so positive that there are lots of treatments being offered. Some of the People here have done really well on a chemo immunotherapy combo.
I hope it all goes well for her x
Hi Chelle

have a lovely evening x
Hi Train Spotter. My husband who is 52 was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer back in February which has spread to his main lymph nodes in his chest and neck. It is stage 4 like your mum's. I made him go to the doctors because he had a cough and tested negative for covid back at Christmas 2020. He is undergoing Immunotherapy treatment every 6 weeks and has his 3rd treatment next week. The Immunotherapy treatment is all that's been offered him at present and was given 6 months without treatment but with treatment a couple of years. He has has no side effects as yet and is hoping to go back to work next month and looks and feels pretty well. His cough has gone and he has a CT scan in 3 weeks to see if the cancer is at bay and hopefully not spread anymore.
I wish your mum good health for as long as possible and you keep strong and positive even though I know how difficult that is.

hi Fi 2
so sorry to hear your going through this with your mum aswell, it’s so cruel isn’t it, I’m like you I can’t sleep worrying constantly, it’s like a nightmare that you can not wake up from,
my mum still not sleeping great, she starts her treatment next Wednesday after the bank holiday I feel this has been going on so long with the tests and just waiting for weeks to be fitted in, evey time I go and see her every other day and weekends , I feel she is getting smaller and smaller ;(
she will have chemo and immunotherapy through a drip every 3 weeks, praying the treatment works,
is your mum only having radiotherapy? Is this to blast the cancer that’s there ?,
im so sorry your mum is in pain is this the cancer causing the pain or the radiotherapy?
Thinking of you and your family, hope your mum starts to feel better very soon.
only way to describe this journey is we can’t go round it or under it.. have to just go keep going through it.. xxx
Thank you so much for your reply. Yes it’s an eternal nightmare . That’s exactly what I said to my husband the other day . Your poor mum , awful to watch them change. Mum is in pain because the tumour is pressing on the nerves on the back of her spine and rib cage. We initially thought the pain was after she had had a mastectomy after breast cancer years ago so we ignored it . Can’t believe she now has a different unrelated lung cancer in a similiar area ! Mum is now feeling really sick and pain is no better . The radiotherapy can cause nausea. She has to have 13 treatments and she has 5 left Hopefully she will get some sort of benefit. I wake up in the middle of the night and get a feeling like a kick in the stomach worrying if she is lying there in agony . I think mum might get chemo or immunotherapy after radiotherapy ?? Try are hoping it will shrink the tumour ( I just worry about how long any benefit will last . She gets reviewed after a few weeks .
sending you love and thinking of you . Let me know how her treatment goes. ,
Fiona xx
Hi Fi 21
im sorry your mum is poorly from the treatment, hopefully once her treatment of the radiotherapy ends the pain will go away,
but this is so awful like you I wake up in the middle of the night and then boom a gut wrenching feeling that the nightmare is real and will never wake up froM it, but live it as best we can,
it’s awful seeing my mum change , but I’m hopeful that treatment will Work, and we have to go through these nightnare situations ,
my mum had womb cancer in 2012 they caught it early and got it all out full Hysterectomy, that was so different to this, once operation and my mum was cured, with my mums LG they said they can’tt cure it but treat it,
I think they will give your mum immunotherapy it will keep the cancer at bay a maintenance drug that stops the cancer and gets your own immune system fighting of the cancer,
im so sorry you are going through this, please let me kno how your mums results are and I’m praying that you get some good news once get radiotherapy treatment ends,
lots of love xx
Oh your mum is so similiar.. awful that she has to go through this all again , but different . I just hold onto the fact that the lung specialist nurse said the treatments have advanced so much in the last 6 years in lung cancer so that there are loads of different treatments to have nowadays. This group is amazing and makes such a difference having people like yourself to chat to thank you .
speak soon , xx
I had same treatment as your mum is going to have. I had 4 rounds then had a scan to see what was happening. My tumour was quite large and treatment was successful as in it shrank 2cms each way. I'm now on management. Fingers crossed for your mum. Any questions about the treatment feel free to ask x
