Hi all, new to this and just seeking out past experiences. My sister is quite poorly at present and is believed to have cancer however awaits biopsy tomorrow to ascertain treatment plan. She has all the clinical signz of SVCO which info would indicate 80% change of cancer. She has tumour on upper right lobe. Need stent but need to feed bzck on fri treatment plan. ? Does anyone have experience of the good or bad, as it is distressing to her. The hope to feed back by fri. We belive sjes a walking time bomb. Concerned brother

  • Hi Mulso and welcome to the group, but I am very sorry to hear about your sister. Any new diagnoses or treatment is stressfull with the fear of the unknown.

I haven't any personal experience of SVCO or having a stent, but hopefully someone who has had this procedure will be along to share their experience with you.

I have found the macmillan support and information page on SVCO and will put the link HERE for you.

Good luck for Friday. I am sure once the stent is fitted your sister will feel much better, and can then concentrate on treating the lung tumour.

    Take care

Got result of biopsy and poor prognosis with life expectancy of 6 to 9 months. Absolutely gutted and given covid unable to be with her as she gets her chemotherapy. I hold to the hope she loses her fear of death as we have discussed it via facetime. Its cruel time for anyone that has an ilness, regardless of outcome. My daughter who is first year student nurse, i have expressed to her the importance of these times to give time when on ward to people such as elderly, the dying, people who are isolated and frieghtened, learn the values of engagement, empathy and how they need someone to listen to them, to listen of how they our feeling.

  • Hi Mulso, I am so sorry you got such bad news about your sister.  One of the knock on effects of covid and its cruel effects, is the islotaion of cancer patients whilst having their treatment.  The only positive thing I can say is the cancer care team in the chemo units are so lovely, and they do build up a relaionship with their patients.

I do hope you can see your sister soon, and give her the much needed hug that you both need.
