My mum is 85 and was diagnosed with lung cancer in June. She has been remarkably well until Christmas. But since boxing day she has become very weak, confused and anxious. Has anyone got advice if a sudden detereation like this is normal? We have not needed any external support, other than a 4 weekly visit from community nurse. I am contacting them tomorrow as I feel we may need macmillan input at this stage, just wondered if anyone here had any input or experience
Hi Amanda D, I am sorry you find yourself here. It is good that you have a community nurse that visits your mum, and i think you are right to contact them to discuss your concerns. I also think you will benefit by talking to people who are in a similar position to yourself. You can join the carers-only-forum as well as the family-and-friends-forum where you can connect with people who will understand what you are going through.
You can also call the Macmillan support line on 0808 808 00 00 from 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.
All the best.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
