Dear all,
Mum stage IV squamous NSCLC.... last immuno treatment yesterday. No spread but some progression causing breathlessness...... Onc said radio after immuno leaves mum's system.....
I know we've had much discussion before about NICE guidelines....
Just left yesterday with a feeling there is nothing else. I know it's a marathon and also want to be positive.......
Any help advice appreciated. I know people remain stable after immuno complete .....
Thanks, Nadia
Hi Nadia
I am sorry to see you are feeling a bit lost between your Mum's treatment.
As you said, your oncologist has said they are already thinking on her next treatment to do some radiotherapy which should hopefully shrink things back and help the breathlessness. Did you get an idea of how long the immunotherapy would take to leave her system? I am not sure but as we get a new infusion every 3 weeks (or 6 weeks) maybe it will not be long before she can get the radiotherapy.
Can Mum and you do some things that you haven't managed to through treatment that you could now do? Any hobbies or things she can do? Spending quality time together and not revolving around treatment I am sure will help you both.
