Hi

Did anyone have anything show up in blood tests before diagnosis? I've had a ton of tests including the usual FBC  liver, kidneys ect and even CRP, ESR, ferritin and FDP (d-dimer) and everything came back fine. Most of these tests I had repeated at monthly intervals since December and nothing abnormal. Some of these tests are known to be linked to cancer yet all normal. I still don't understand how you can have aggressive disease in your body and everything come back fine.

    Hi Gsd Rule

I'm sorry you are going through this. I've seen a few people mention anemia. My ferritin was on the low side but not out of range but my fbc was always fine so they never mentioned anemia. I also see a lot of people saying they had shoulder pain and aches too. I've had a bad left shoulder for years which is the side I've had chest pain and and a wheeze..all makes sense now. I've also had rib cartilage pain for years especially on the left side. Was told its muscular. I'm glad you are feeling more yourself and hopefully that immunotherapy is doing its job. Stay strong xxx

    Hi r mondo

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I heard that low sodium can be linked to a certain lung cancer so I'm surprised dr didn't investigate further. Did you X Ray's show anything?

Thank you, no it was only until the very last time i was in hospital the xray picked it up, i remember one of the dr,s saying to me you have got  a lot of people running around trying to sort this sodium out and under control as you have been in so many times, i myself did a lot of reading on it and never saw the word cancer come up all i read, if i did i would have asking a hell of a lot.
When i started chemo no more sodium problems, just my shit luck i think.

From what I've read small cell causes higher levels of a certain hormone and that can interfere with sodium levels. It only happens to around 15% of people with small cell so that's probably why they dont flag low sodium as suspicious..they should!! I'm sorry yours wasn't picked up sooner.

    Hi Groovykelly

Please try not to Google and if you do,  stick to proper cancer sites like Macmillan, cancer research etc.

There are many places that anybody can post anything, often it isn't based on any facts etc and can misguid people.

I know you will be looking for lots of answers right now we all did. I found it better to concentrate on what's next and listening to your teams plan for treatment for you.

    Hi Groovykelly

I started  my treatment in September had 4 cycles of two lots of chemo plus immunotherapy.  After the 4 cycles was scanned.  All stable.  They drop one chemo and am now on  a maintenance chemo plus immuno every 3 weeks.  Just been scanned again and all still stable - so long may that last!  Feeling ok on treatment first week I go off my food everything feels like I’m eating slime and I feel drained but by around day 4 I’m beginning to feel better again.  So can’t complain xx
