Hi
Hubby has stage 4 lung cancer that has gone to liver and started chemo on Monday
Does anyone know what he can do to help his hoarse voice that has happened over last 2 days and getting worse?
Thanks all
Hi snoopy, my voice has been hoarse now since beginning of January, hopefully as chemo kicks in and tumour shrinks his voice will come back. Depending on how much I've spoken in a day I range from micky mouse to Barry White.... Hope chemo is gentle on him. You remember and take time to look after you as well! Xx
A hoarse voice is quite common, I developed this and was told that if it didn't clear up it could be possible to have a simple procedure in which some substance (sorry, can't remember the name of it) is injected into the vocal cords to try to sort it out. The same also happened to a friend in the same circumstances as your husband.
I suggest you discuss with your husband's consultant during the next visit.
I hope his treatment goes well.
Hi snoopy i had to reply to you as my hubby has exact same thing lung to liver spread si stage 4 and we are waiting to hear now whether they will want to do more targeted radiotherapy or chemo... i hope yours copes well with his chemo and his voice returns to normal quickly...you must feel just like i do ..sort of in a bad dream which is never ending.
Sending you both hugs and do keep in touch through this forum.
Hils
Hi Snoopy
Sorry to read of your husband's diagnosis.
I started getting a hoarse voice before my treatment. Once the chemoradiotherapy was done it improved again and I sound 'normal' again.
I think you will have to see what his plan for treatment will be and once he starts it, it may then improve. I am not sure if there is anything specific he can do himself, but speak to his team and maybe they can suggest something.
Thanks everyone
Seems better now - day 9 - so will see how it goes and if happens again
Hi Hils
Good to hear from you
When will you hear re the treatment? Has he just recently been diagnosed?
Hubby doing well at the moment. Throat has eased but joints are aching. It's going to be a strange few months working out all the side effects
Let me know how you are doing too
Jo
