Hi there, since having successful lung cancer treatment in 2016 my COPD has got to the stage that I can't walk very far, in fact I rarely leave the house!  I am now looking to get a mobility scooter to give me some independence.  I live in Glasgow and two  my children live a distance away so I  travel by air quite a lot, and would love to be able to take my scooter with me when I visit them.  Does anyone in the group have any useful information or tips on (1) Buying, renting or leasing a scooter. (2) The type of scooters that are easily transported and airline friendly.

hi paddie sorry to hear about mobility. wife has mobility scooter. when going abroad we hire them. probably be able to hire in the uk. most towns have mobility centres.  would think you could take it by air but at cost?  the type of scooter that are easy to fold etc. are flimsy and expensive in my opinion, TC

Hi TC, thanks for your reply, it's actually free to take a mobility scooter or chair on a plane, which is great, but they have to be airline approved so I was hoping to hear from someone who has an approved one!

I know that I can probably hire one wherever I am, but I would prefer to have one that only I use, also, I am going to Spain soon for a month and it works out to almost £700 to hire one for that long.  What type of scooters does your wife have, I don't have a clue what I want or need.
