can anyone help with any information please

  • Hi

Do you mean cisplatin and 5FU?

I have never seen 5FU mentioned on here for Lung Cancer. It may help to get relevant replies if you could let us all know the type of Lung Cancer this combo of chemo has been prescribed for.

Sorry that I cannot help and hopefully someone will be along soon who has experience of this combo. Also you could try searching the MacMillan site for this combination of chemo.

yeah i mean that combination its a secondary cancer to his hpv tonsil cancer last year which he was cured for. however its come back in the lungs they haven’t actually said what it is yet as awaiting a biopsy but have already told us this is the chemotherapy he is going to be on but when reading about it im not happy as the main cancers it is used for is head neck osophagul and anal. ive also looked online for people who have had this chemotherapy and again i cant find anyone its worrying me thankyou for your reply

  • Hi

Thank you for clarifying things. I am a tad concerned that his medical team have come up with a very specific treatment plan before they have undertaken the biopsy. My advice would be to get the results of the biopsy and see if they change their approach. However, if they still plan to use the same chemo combo then make sure that you raise your concerns as to types of cancer this is used for. It is ok to question medical staff.

There is a group on here for Head and Neck cancers, which includes throat etc; the members of that group may have more experience of both secondary cancers from the throat areas and the chemo combo. A quick search of that Group has revealed that some people in that Group are familiar with this combo.

I wish the best possible outcomes for you both.
