Almost 12 months since I did the Macmillan head shave I find out tomorrow if it's got to come off again!
I did the head shave last year to show support for my dad who was going through a rough time having treatment for sclc (he already has advanced prostrate cancer) fast forward 12 months and I'll be getting the results from my lung biopsy and PET scan all most a year to the day.
Warped humour and stubborn nature will see me through what ever comes next. Started getting back pain now and can no longer lie on right side so the sooner treatment starts the better - I'm under no illusion it's going to be easy, I've seen it all first hand but it's a fight I'm determined to win
Take care xxx
Thank you ladies, got started on my will today, I'm not morbid but knowing I'm putting things in place just in case helps - my only fear is not sorting everything for daughters
Gina your story is awe inspiring with what you've been through, hope I can half as brave xxx
Good luck for today. Hope you get some answers and your plan asap xx
Confirmed it's Adenocarcinoma - pet scan report put me at T3 N2 M0 (I understand what this means but not sure how that translates to staging?) so they have to wait for actual images before deciding treatment, should know after next week's meeting if I'm off to see a surgeon or oncologist and have an MRI booked for Tuesday to check brain!
It's good you know something's but there always seems to be more questions than answers in these clinic appointments it seems to me! Xx
For the staging Varmint I use the cancer research translation of stages from the TNM as I find this is the best one to understand. You I believe are a stage 3 but I'll post the page here for you to look at too.
lung cancer stages if you click on the underlined green writing it will take you there. Once you go on click on stage 3 scrowl down and it will give you a list of the TNM and tell you if it is a stage 3a 3b or 3c.
I hope that helps.
Thank you Gina, that's how I read it too
Looks like it's not quite as straightforward has I'd thought now lymph nodes are involved, I've got have a bronchoscopy now to check out one particular node apparently.
Still positive, need to rebook my New York trip next year!!!
hi
I'm off to the breast clinic today to see what they come up with there.
I have an appointment for bronchoscopy next Thursday (really not looking forward to that ), sorry to hear yours is not as straight forward as you first thought.
good luck with your tests and I'll let you know how I get on today later
Hi Varmint
Sorry to hear that it is not straight forward. I hope the bronchoscopy goes smoothly. I wonder why they are doing this however. I had 2 and a questionable third lymph node and they did mention about taking biopsies but changed their mind thankfully. (I was in agony and just wanted treatment to start). I did have a PET have you had one? Maybe to decide if they will offer surgery? Or if not likely chemoradiotherapy.
Absolutely get that trip booked.
Kacirh - Good luck as the breast clinic today, I hope you get some answers. Best of luck for the bronchoscopy next week.
