Hi all,

I have picked up an infection AMD have been put on antibiotics. Feeling really exhausted and struggling with my legs.

My legs fell really weak and I've got no energy to do anything.  Can someone tell me if this is normal. I'm due my 4th chemo next Tuesday and not sure if they will allow my to have it.

Any advise would be helpful.

Thanks

Dawn

    Hi Dawn

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Without knowing what infection you have or how long you have been on the antibiotics it is difficult to say, plus non of us are medical. Please can I urge you not to wait till Tuesday though. Either speak to whoever put you on the antibiotics or phone the chemotherapy helpline to let them know how you are feeling. It could be that your bloods are low that you are feeling like this, or maybe your antibiotics could be altered, but it's for one of your team to decide.

    Hope you feel better soon

    Hi Dawn

It is really important to get your infections checked out and appropriately treated whether it's at home or in hospital.

I am now incredibly susceptible to infections and since February I have been in hospital 5 times for at least a week at a time with infections. At least once I have arrived seeming OK and then deteriorated quickly and I wouldn't want that to happen to you.

Also the infection could delay any treatment needed for your cancer let alone the infection. I have had treatment carry on but I have also had cancer treatment stopped.

Hopefully you will start to feel better soon.

    Liz
