Hi all Im 53 year old woman and have been suffering from a dry cough for about three years now. After the first year I went to the Drs and was referred for an endoscopy. They found some irritation and I have been on omrazepole for about two years for the cough but it hasnt gone away. I recently fell which resulted in a sprained wrist. This has now healed,I think but just recently when I cough my shoulder really hurts.Infact it hurts constantly. My GP has now referred me for an xray and says I should have had one long before now.I have had chest complaints as a child (bronchitis) and although I dont smoke I have been around adults who smoke all of my childhood. I am really worried and hoping its a muscular problem but I have a tightness in my throat and have felt my throat was tightening for some time now...Has any one had anything similiar. Please dont be afraid of frightening me.Im  a knowledge is power person - thanks.

hi danni. regards vets. they new exactly what was wrong?  4 weeks and £2k later they said needed see specialist. took to 20 mile away specialist took one look at dog and said it wasn't what they had been treating him for. they scanned him and that was when we were told if they sorted him it would just come back.

  • I really have to learn to pace myself because I have been flat out since I got up.....huge ironing, boring housework and then the garden. Trying to keep occupied! Now my scars hurt and I've been coughing again. How have you been today? Are you still coughing?

As for Vet's! We have had similar experiences to you. We were at a stupid Vet 3 times with Shadow and he told us that the heart was fine but then I asked for the Vet I trusted and she diagnosed the tumour on the heart but even now we have questions because thing's don't add up. That makes it worse doesn't it and the money they charge is extortionate. Did you know that, on average,  they get paid up to £70,000. It's heartbreaking when you lose your dog or cat without feeling that the vet is taking advantage.

Have you got nice weather today? It's beautiful up here and so warm. I should be doing more outside but am going to have to lie down for a while. When I was younger I could party most of the night! Where on earth did it go?! Hope everybody is having a better day. xx

    Hi natashas,

xray results are pretty quick and often same day. Your GP will be emailed the xray and the technicians report and should be in touch pronto if it shows concerns.  Xrays are notoriously vague and you may need to push for a CAT scan to further explore your symptoms. Keep strong and wishing you all the best.

  • Hi  natashas. Please don't ever worry about doing a late reply. I haven't been on for a while because I have also been in a big black hole and have been having terrible coughing bouts with crackling, wheezing and whistling! I sound like a broken old record! It usually takes 1 - 2 weeks for me to get results. I had a scan the day our poor boy was put down and then had the results 8 days later and am incredibly happy to say that there is no sign of the cancer. Yay! However, there are a few signs of inflammation in the right lung and they are not sure why because this is the 2nd time the inflammation has shown up but a different area to the 1st scan so am now waiting to see the Consultant. Great news on one hand but there always seems to be a but........!! I'm still getting upper arm pain and my operation site is really painful. We also got the horrible news that my brother - in - law has a Pancoast Tumour at the top of the left lung and is waiting treatment.  My husband is so upset and none of us can believe that this has happened.  Only telling you all this to take your mind off things! Of course you are worried and feeling down. It's a scary time for you but when you read what Gina or Darlo or the others have gone through it makes you realise that there are incredible thing's that they can do for cancer these days. Hard going though.

Just to let everybody know that I have been thinking about you all and know that I have missed a lot and missed Darlo's Birthday so Happy belated Birthday Derek . Sorry to shut down but thing's have not been good and even getting my results are not a definite diagnosis. Gina, you are amazing and what you have been through is exhausting. Everyone here is lovely.

If you need to scream or cry just post or you can do private emails. I will keep my moans short. I don't know whether you would agree but it's very lonely somehow because even when you have people around who love you, they can't really understand what you are going through. People here do though and you will get a lot of support here. Please let us know how you get on. Love to everybody and gentle hugs!

Take care natashas. Thinking of you. Luv xx

thank you danni. still got one cake left for you. other 4 gobbledBirthday up in no time  sorry to see you and your family having a rough time. hope things improve.

  • Thank you Derek. Yum yum! You have been having a hard time with your health. What's the next step for you? I so wish that I could make all of you better. My husband is feeling emotionally battered just now and is wondering what next. Thank goodness he plays drums in a rock band! If my scan results had been completely clear I would have said.... champagne for all of you! Now having to go to speak to the Consultant about the different areas of inflammation is a bit daunting but it could be worse. My cough is getting worse and sometimes I'm sick and my breathing isn't wonderful but am not going to think about it till I see him.

I hope you managed to have a good night and that today will be a bit better for you....a lot better would be good! Sending love and hugs from Scotland where it has rained non stop for 2 days! Love to all xxx
