Hi my mum is 73 and generally well, she had a sore back which led us to take her to A&E, they treated her for hivy infection and she bounced straight back after one week of anti biotics and a low dose of Gabapentin. She had CTs and MRI and discovered she has a fracture at the spine and a growth at L3 and L4 of the spine, however the primary appears to be at the lung. They did a large dose of radiotherapy yesterday in one sitting, then have arranged a PET scan and Biopsy to follow. I guess I’m just looking some advice or support, as I’m stunned with it all to say the least. Anita
Hi Anita10001c0b1 welcome to the group but sorry to hear about your mum. The radiotherapy should help with pain relief for the spine. The biopsy will determine what type of lung cancer it is, so then a treatment plan can be put into place. All these tests and results do take some time unfortunately, and I know how overwhelming this will feel for you and your mum. We all here have been in a similar situation, so we know how you feel.
There is always someone here to chat with, or you can call the MacMillan support line on 0808 808 00 00.
