Hello everyone,
About 3 years ago I had a lobectomy, top right lung. Yesterday I went for the results of my current scan and they’ve noticed one of my adrenal glands is enlarged. As a result I’ll be having another scan shortly and if the result is inconclusive an MRI. As you can imagine, shock has crept in and I feel back at square one. I didn’t sleep well last night, as expected. I’m wondering if anyone here can tell me more about secondary adrenal cancer? The specialist has already said unless the tumour was a new cancer, the treatment would likely be chemo.
As you can probably tell I’m in a bit of a pickle with all the possibilities. I’m trying not to dwell but I think today might be difficult. It’s the waiting and not knowing.
Thanks,
Daisy
Hello Daisy (nice name by the way - my wife's grandma was called Daisy and she was a lovely lady),
I have no direct experience of adrenal recurrence, but did have a scare a couple of years after my right pneumonectomy in 2014. A surveillance scan indicated recurrence in my trachea but after further scans (culminating in a PET scan) it was shown to be a false alarm.
Hopefully your's will be similar and I sincerely hope this is the case.
Derek.
Thank you so much. It’s all so stressful although I feel better than yesterday. My Mum’s Mum was called Edith but Grandad called her Daisy. He was a Sussex man and used to sing Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do etc.
Its the wait and see game
Definitely now in the right adrenal so I’ll be having 4 rounds of chemo with adrenal gland removal after two treatments. I’ll be meeting the oncologist this morning to find out which chemo it will be and when. I’ll be having a kidney function blood test first. Just want to get on with it now.
Saw the oncologists today. Had a vitamin B12 injection and I’m waiting for folic acid tablets to be taken for week before 1st chemo. Kidney function blood test on Monday. See the clinicians again in 4 weeks time. Just want to get started now.
Thank you
Well, just me again! Things have moved on and I’ve had my first lot of chemo. The date for the operation is 2nd September all being well. The chemo wasn’t as difficult as I expected and all seems to be going well.
The cold cap to help me keep more hair is really cold. Fortunately there was another lady having chemo with a cold cap. She said the freezing feeling would go off after 15 mins as you get used to it. She was absolutely right.
Just looking forward now to getting over the adrenal removal and getting back to a more normal
Love Daisy
