Hi,
Has anyone had any experience of Vinorelbine treatment, side effects and effectiveness? My partner has just started a course last week and is very sceptical about it.
Also any ideas on food and eating would be really gratefully received. Having so many issues around food and eating.
Thanks very much
Good Morning Worcs
I am Brian one of the Community Champions here at Macmillan. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered. I can't answer it myself as I have a different cancer, however by me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the group and I hope seen and answered by other members of the Ling Cancer group.
I wish you well with your treatment.
Best wishes - Brian.

Strength, Courage, Faith, Hope, Defiance, VICTORY.
I am a Macmillan volunteer.
I had cisplatin and vinorelbine as adjuvant chemo following a pneumonectomy in 2014 at age 57, I had 4 cycles starting with cisplatin week 1, vinorelbine week 2 then a rest and blood tests before the next cycle. I am fortunate to have been free of lung problems since (so far, fingers firmly crossed) so along with the other treatments it must have been at least partly effective for me.
The combination was challenging but doable, you'll find side effects build in intensity as the cycles progress, much like any chemo.
Food and eating for me quickly deteriorated as my appetite declined quite quickly and I recall being advised by the chemo unit to just eat whatever I fancied to get calories - that advice might have changed over the past 11 years though? I lost quite a bit of weight in the end. My tastes changed significantly and I found food I enjoyed no longer appealed but other food I didn't like became attractive to me, but this reversed in the months after completion and things went back to normal.
If you have any specific questions just ask and I'll do my best to answer.
I hope all goes well,
Derek.
