Although I did not have chemo or immunotherapy for my lung cancer treatment, just radiotherapy, my friend had excellent results from her chemo and immunotherapy in December 2023.
She was diagnosed with stage 4 small cell lung cancer (SCLC) in August 2023 and began chemo and immunotherapy within a week of diagnosis as her cancer was treated as an emergency because of fluid in the lung and a partial lung collapse. After her chemo ended the oncologist told her the shrinkage was over 75% and apparently SCLC responds very well to chemotherapy. Unfortunately she wasn't considered for surgery because, for some strange reason, surgery is not performed for SCLC, so she has just remained on a two year immunotherapy treatment regime which finishes in August this year. She is followed up every three months with CT scans and is doing well with no regrowth, but she was told at the time of diagnosis that her cancer and at stage 4 is incurable and the treatment was palliative.
Almost two year's later she is doing well, and getting on with her life.
Best wishes.
