Has anyone had issues with diarrhea, stomach pain in relation to immunotherapy. If yes, what treatment did you receive and did it help? Any input appreciated.
Hi Gilpat I think this is a common side effect of immunotherapy, however you must tell your medical team about this, just in case there is an infection or an allergic reaction to the treatment. They will probably prescribe you some medication to help with this.
Hi Gilpat,
I escaped stomach pain but did indeed have the liquid stools, bad enough for me to be concerned about dehydration. Very common, I'm afraid. I was on Keytruda but I'm assuming that all forms of immuno are similar.
Assuming your doctors find no underlying cause, take one item out of your diet and see if things improve after a few days. If not then resume eating it and try the next thing. One at a time - it takes ages to work though all the things that you eat but you will find the trigger(s) eventually.
We're all different, but for me the worst triggers were boiled eggs (raw eggs were no problem - how weird is that) and fruit yoghurts.
What's probably going on here is that your immune system is supercharged now and has decided incorrectly to protect you against something quite harmless. Diarrhoea is a big clue that it's something in your diet but after that it could be anything. Forget logic, this has nothing to do with the normal causes of diarrhoea.
kind regards
Steve
