Hi I’m new here and have just been diagnosed with lung cancer.
one letter states upper right lobe other states mid lobe.
I was diagnosed with cervical cancer 30 years ago and was 7 months pregnant was told to terminate and hysterectomy. I planned my funeral and went ahead with the pregnancy. Long story but I didn’t have cancer in first place.
my husband passed away in 2007. Had a lot of issues too many really what went wrong. He was diagnosed with lung cancer given the all clear and died within6 months a piece had come away during chemo and gone to his brain.
I had breast cancer early caught 12 years ago. Which has not returned. Surgery and radiotherapy.
now long cancer which was on a previous scan in 2023 but was ignored and nothing done until now. Has anyone asked for a second opinion and what’s the process please
Hi Anneg I am sorry you have had so many terrible things happen to you over the years. It must of been so hard to have lost your husband so soon after the all clear, I am so sorry this happened to you.
It is not unusual for people to ask for a 2nd opinion, and with the 2 different letters you have I can see why you would want this. The way to do this is through your oncologist, do not worry about asking him the question, they are used to this question being asked. If you do not have any appointments coming up soon, then you can contact the oncologist secretary to put in the request. You could also ask your GP, but this is a longer process, the quickest way will be through the oncology team.
If you are unhappy with the way your diagnoses has been handled, you can contact PALS patient-advice-and-liaison-service You will find your local PALS office in your hospital.
I hope you get some clarity soon on what is going on. Please let us know how you get on.
Hi Chelle
Thanjs for your response. I’m waiting on a call from my respiratory doctor either weds or Thursday. I will speak to him
I haven’t been seen by an oncologist as yet still waiting. I don’t want to appear as I’m ungrateful for help of course I’m not it just seems that so many things have gone wrong previously and it’s hard to forget the problems I have endured over the years so would like to just double check what’s being said and why it seems different. Hopefully will find out. Will let you know.thanks again xx
