Hi

i had my lung segmentation operation on the 2nd January and am experiencing stabbing pain on my back and burning tenderness under my right boob (same side as op).  Is this normal 4 weeks post op?  I’m guessing it’s nerve pain and possibly bruising.  So it’s got to get worse before it gets better?  Thanks in advance

  • Hi Blue Iris can't help on your question but going on operation knowledge  it generally  takes more than four weeks to recover. The lung does not stop working while recovery happens we cannot immobolise the lung so its a case of resting as much as possible  so the lung does not have to work overtime. However worth enquiring from others how their op went including recovery. Best wishes for future.

  • Hi Blue iris

I had upper right lobectomy in June 24. And experienced the same.pain and burning on same.side. I think it is.all to do with internal healing and Nerve pain. Make sure you are keeping on top of your pain management. It is a recovery process and 4 weeks post op is still early in your recovery.

  • Yes I had the same kind of pain and  dumbness at the side of my breast along my breast and behind my breast area . When I asked the cancer specialist nurse about it she said because they cut through nerve endings and they took away the lymph nodes nearest to the cancer . I looked up where the lymph nodes were and one sits right behind the breast. . I’m 5 months on now and not in pain but the numbness continues

  • Hi I had left lower lung resection on November 28th and still have days where underneath my breast and right round my bra line is extremely painful it's still numb and sore and can't wear a bra yet.

The pain was settling some bit but since starting chemotherapy it has really heightened.
