Hi everyone,
New to this group but not new to the community in general. My partner was, last year, diagnosed with bowel cancer and secondary liver cancer. She endured a pretty brutal 6 months of capox chemo and had major surgery in November. After all of that she was told she had clear margins and was in remission.
Fast forward to her first 3-month check up today and her oncologist has told her that she has six or 7 lesions in each lung, all around 1mm-3mm. This time, there will be chemo but no cure.
As you can imagine, and some of you will likely have gone through, we are devastated all over again. It felt like all of last year's struggle has resulted in nothing positive for her.
Ironically, she is feeling the best she's felt in a very long time. She's generally well, is only 57 yeats old and even went back to work this week. To go from that to being told she's likely got between 1 and 2 years is crushing. She's going on to a fortnightly regime of FOLFIRI. We understand this is just to buy time.
I was wondering what other people's experience of this drug was like? Obviously it's still extremely raw but she is wondering if it's even worth doing? I just think she fought her best fight last year up until November and isn't sure what she's got left now.
Thanks in advance.
