Hi, my name is karis2023, I started my treatment back in January 2024, and I had 4 cycles of pemetrexed. Carbonation and Pembrolizumab, the side effects were waking up the following morning cold a sweaty, I also didn't smell very nice. After the 4th cycle they dropped the carbonation, one of the worst side effects is having oral thrush ever time, I have treatment every 3 weeks, my last treatment I had the worst oral thrush ever, I couldn't eat for 9 days I also got cellulitis in my right foot, numb finger tips, other sideffects have been pins and needles all over my body and a rash.
Hello Karis2023, sounds like you are going through a tough time , know the feeling and I only had radiotherapy side effects for lung cancer. Unfortunately no one really knows what effect the treatment will have on existing underlying illness. I live alone and am finding it hard to cope but I have had some really helpful support workers. They have advised me on how to conserve energy so I am not pushing my lungs to the limit. I would say for you that you need to try and get the side effects under control but not sure how . Things like Thrush and rashes can take ages to get back to your usual level. It seems these treatments hit your weakest points lowering your immunity when you least need it. Hopefully all these side effects will have been worth the suffering and you will recover and feel much better in the long term. Best wishes that the treatment works.
