Hi - how does one decide which treatment to go for re. the above? I have NSCLC Stage 4 by definition but low grade and confined to lungs. I have been offered the choice of either of the above treatments - the first being the 'gold star treatment' with the second being apparently gentler so I have been told. NHS funding has been granted re. reduction of Paclitaxel dose because of already having peripheral neuropathy due to previous breast cancer treatment resulting in various long-term side effects and currently CLL. I'm 74 years of age and just wondered whether anyone has or is on either of the above options, particularly the first one and of how they are finding it ? I met my Oncologist last Tuesday with a meeting scheduled for this Tuesday when I am meant to give my consent for treatment to commence on Friday so am somewhat overwhelmed.
Many thanks.

Hi puti
I would imagine that having to make treatment decisions can be very hard.
I'm not a member of this forum but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
Best wishes with whichever option you choose.
In Nov 2020 I had the first cocktail, it worked really well. I think the immunotherapy pembrolizumab was the game changer. I had the usual hair loss and did suffer with neuropathy. The immunotherapy I managed fine for nearly two years before it caused colitis and I missed the last couple of doses. I have recently had your 2nd cocktail which again calmed my lymph nodes again. But it made me very tired and attacked my red blood cells and i ended up having 4 blood transfusions. I had had 4 doses of docetaxel which didn't work and was a bit vicious side effect wise hair went again and neuropathy started off again.and early last year I had radiotherapy with cisplatin and vinorelbine which worked for a short while. I found the first lot the easiest. That might be because it was the start of my treatment before my body got fed up from the treatment.
All I can say is I'm 4 years into this journey and at the moment feel well and I'm not on treatment. Next scan in Nov and I'll again go with the flow.
I suppose all these treatments work differently for all and side effects vary from person to person.
Good luck with your choice and journey.
