Hi Everybody I wish to update you a news about myself. I had segmentectomy on 9th October and my drain has been removed next day on 10th October (I only inpatient 2 nights. the first night I was waiting surgery and 2rd night I was in high dependency unit ,3rd night already home sleep ) . I was discharged on next day after sugery on 10th October ,Im still on strong pain killer now ,its only 5th day after sugery .but I managed to reduce this blue tablet -strong pain killer already because it causes side effects.I havent used the PRN pain killer yet . fingers crossed I wish a quicker recovery.
Hi Camcm
I have just been catching up on the forum and saw you post. I hope the results you were awaiting were good and you are on the road to recovery

I had two lumps removed, top of right lung removed and lymph nodes removed by VATS op was in ICU over night had drain removed next day and was then transferred to a ward. I was able to walk about without getting too out of breath the next day plus able to wash and get myself ready. I had very slight pain where drain was taken out and when I coughed but on the whole my pain was managed really well by the hospital. I was in hospital for 5 days although would have been allowed home after 4 but my oxygen levels kept dipping slightly so had to stay extra day til they stabilised. It has now been 56 days since my op and I am pretty much back to normal although I do get slightly out of breath walking up two flights of stairs (I live in a town house) or when walking and talking at the same time but I'm hoping that improves with time. If you want to ask any more questions please free to ask - good luck with your surgery.
Hi Luigis:
Thats really great to hear your progress go well .
Im in 9th day after OP , I have managed to stop the strong pain killer now and only use the normal pain killer , this helps as well .because the strong pain killer can make you sick .I can have light exercise at home half hour morning, half hour afternoon and also can walk outside in local park .but I cant jump and runing , i can walk upstairs in our home without breathless now .I just got my stitiches off yesterday , the nurse gave me some antibiotic since she saw a little red scar on my back ( I have 5 key holes in total in my back). fingers crossed everything goes well .hope everybody will have smooth sugery ,NO worry is important ,keep good mood ,sleep well .x
Yeah actually I forgot about that after I had stitch out at docs where drain had been it had become infected so I too had to have 2 courses of antibiotics but that has cleared up now. My painkillers were given intravenously after op but they were removed day after op and all I was then taking was paracetamol ibruprufen and oramorph. They did give me some codeine which I was adamant I didn't want as makes you constipated but they said they would give me something to counteract that which didn't work and I did get constipated which was very painful so I stopped taking the codeine. I do have something on my left lung too but its not big enough yet to say whether that is cancer too I have to go back for another ct scan in December but if it is also cancer ehichnits more than likely it is at least I know what to expect next time that's presuming I pass the fit test to be operated on again. Hope your wound heals soon and you continue to improve x
Hi Luigis:
Thank you to share your news to us .
Fingers crossed for your December Scan ,all goes well .
Im in 2rd course of antibiotics now .Gp thought I have some internal inflection as well,I still cough and have phlegm ,I dont know how long this cough exercise needed ? My antibiotics will finish next Tuesday and then GP will review.
Currently I still use normal pain killer ,its 15th day after sugery . I still havent received any feedback about lab test result yet ,but Doctor said I shouldnt have further chem or radio therapy .fingers crossed.
