Hello all thank you for your lovely comments. I had a VATS upper right Lobectomy on Monday morning.. Felt really rough and out of it yesterday and discovered I have a morphine and codeine sensitivity- I was completely off my trolley and slept on and off for 15 hours. I did get out of bed two or three times and started the breathing exercises. Today the drain came out and all of the lines. So I’m feeling liberated. Couple of walks and flights of stairs done so I may be good to go tomorrow or the day after.
My case still has to go back to the MDT though as a 5mm node was found on the left lung. It feels like this sort of information is dripped out to soften you up. Anyhow, the first treatment is done and it’s now some wait and see for pathology results and other tiny nodules.
I’m not letting it burst my bubble for now, I’m squeezing the pips for posivity. (Even if I did cry when they were really clumsy and hurt me putting the anti embolism socks on me…..)
I wish you all plenty of love strength and hope.
Hi Avidknitter
lovely to hear that your the other side.
Don’t worry about anything just concentrate on your recovery
I didn’t have any info in hospital in fact I didn’t see a doctor until the day I left. I thought there was something wrong but later I found it was all fine. They just left me alone in critical care as he didn’t like the margins so went back in. I wish they’d told me that in hospital.
Sending you a hug, hope you have a speedy recovery.
Best wishes
Ann
Thanks- that’s good to hear. I was only in hospital 3 nights so I’m 8 days post surgery now. The first full day home I was like a greyhound out of the race traps, but paid for it the following day. Doing the breathing exercises religiously and I’ll start moving about more in the next couple of days. is there anything you wish you’d done differently, or I should watch out for.
Glad you’re recovering well
All the best
Hi I just took it easy for 1st 2 weeks and after that I was fine have had couple of chest infections though but the cough is getting much easier I couldn't hold a conversation without badly coughing I do forget sometimes and reach up wich still realhurts if I stretch my right arm and the breathing exercises really do help hope you have speedy recovery but remember it was a big operation you went through good luck ..
One thing that I did not realise could happen.
My cough was attached to hayfever
Im six months on now and managing my allergies which were okay before my operation.
Strange but true. I found out because I flew to Spain and no cough, my breathing was great and I could swim!
Flew back and so did the cough .
