Feeling weird? Help!

So my recovery has been going well, but this afternoon I have felt a bit weird, and I don’t know whether or not I need to do anything or whether this is ‘normal’ after lobectomy,

So past couple of days been more active, walking and moving about. Breathing is fine, using my spirometer fine, no chest pains, perhaps I’ve done too much?

went for a nap this afternoon, got up had some veggy chili, jacket potato and carrot and orange juice, took my long rekease oxycodone and 2 paracetamol.

started with a bit of a cough, but no fever, no temp, just a weird heavy sensation in my torso. Can deep breath with no pain, felt a bit hypoglycaemic but that’s gone now.

I know if I ring 111 they’ll tell me to go to A&E but can’t go just because I feel ‘heavy’ Grimacing

It is so hard to know what is my new normal! I have fibromyalgia so could be a flare up, everyone keeps telling me I’m doing too much too soon, but I feel it’s better for me to be active than lay about thinking woe is me, I will get depressed if I’m too isolated.

any advice? I do have health anxiety and did have a heart stent last year so I do worry about post op clot, but I’m on aspirin, clopidogrel and fragmin injections every night. Didn’t have my compression socks on today as was out and about.

What do you do to work out your new normal?

  • Good morning Greendeco13

I am sorry to read about your journey so far. You say you are feeling weird but not really sure why. It is sometimes difficult to know what is to be expected and what is a cause for concern. You say you are concerned about calling 111 as you don't want to go to hospital. I can understand that as sometimes when you are not really sure what is going on and you don't want to waste anyone's time.

I would think it is worth giving them a call or maybe contact your CNS/hospital if they gave you a phone number to call. Just to get checked out and hopefully reassured?

I had to do this several times myself after chemo and a lot of the time they could just give you reassurance over the phone. Only once I was asked to go in and that was when I was on sepsis alert and had to have intravenous antibiotics.

    Take care

    Jane

  • Hello Greendeco13

I hope that you’re feeling better

I think if you keep a check in your heart rate and blood pressure that helped me greatly if you have a BP monitor at home

I hope that you’ve had the all clear from a professional

Its a strange op isn’t it  I had a bowel resection and Ileostomy open and keyhole surgery so in comparison my lobectomy was a walk in the park  only it wasn’t  I was in critical care and felt pretty rough for a long while

The weirdest thing was I felt a clicking in my chest  that was very strange. It did pass

I’m doing well after two months

Keep resting and taking it easy

I do tend to panic and overthink when I’m not feeling well. I think I’m doing too much and getting overtired too.

I did take my blood pressure and it was fine. Think it was anxiety.
I find it weird that since leaving hospital just over 2 weeks ago, no one has checked me out properly. A nurse came round and gave a very quick look at my wounds, and the hospital have rang.

I have a follow up next week so will raise this.
