So feeling ok, slept ok and feel my breathing is going ok. The only thing I’m struggling with is coughing up phlegm.
I am coughing and it’s moving but it really hurts. I’ve tried pressing a cushion into my side, and taking my strong meds, waiting for them to kick in then do my breathing which starts the coughing.
Any advice? Usually ok with pain but this is pain and a sense of tightness. What worked for you?
Another issue is sneezing, I have hay fever this time of year and I feel like a sneeze will hurt a lot! Have taken antihistamine and put vaseline in my nostrils and keeping windows shut.
I yawned last night and yikes that was painful
hope everyone having a good weekend!
Hi,
All I can suggest is increase your fluid intake to help make the phlegm more mobile. And maybe ask your doctor to recommend if an expectorant would help? The easier it comes out the less effort needed to cough - with enough fluid intake you should be able to hock up a loogie without a cough.
On the pain, strong meds. Don't know what you're on but I was on Oxycodone 10mg pills twice a day and 5mg liquid with a couple of paracetamols on top whenever I wanted for as long as it took.
kind regards
Steve
Thanks Steve
yep drinking loads of liquids but I’ll get my husband to get an expectorant, he can ask the pharmacist and I’ll speak to GP Tuesday.
One thing I’ve noticed is my torso is numb, feels proper odd - I’m assuming this is possibly nerve damage or epidural after effects,
I was diligent about moving my shoulder so no pain there. I’ve managed stairs ok so far.
Have to say the team did a fab job of my op, and I was very well looked after in hospital, even the food was nice. Thank God for the NHS, my cousin who lives in the USA said I’d be looking at over £100k if I’d had this done over there. They charge for everything, everything is itemised and billed!
Hi,
Yes I've been getting the occasional odd feelings in my insides too, and some mild twinges that don't last for long. And the occasional tightness in my side. I guess my insides are just rearranging themselves and settling down. Nothing serious. The surgeon said I would be "aware" that I'd had an operation for a while.
Oh, and I just checked my claim receipts - cost to my insurer was £24948.58. Bargain!
kind regards
Steve
