Hello,
I had part of my left lung removed on the 11th of March due to a suspicious growth being present in scans. No cancer was showing in scans, the advice was to have the operation as the best course of action. During the operation some cancer was found on a lymph node which was removed. A course of chemotherapy has been recommended beginning 17th of May. This means that there is a gap of 9 and a half weeks between cancer being removed and chemo beginning. Given that during this whole process getting treatment early is recommended, a delay of over 9 weeks makes me wonder if we have missed the ideal period to treat any remaining cancer and if so what is the point?
Thanks
Hi Quixote
Your medical team are simply giving your body time to heal post -op. For some people, the side effects of chemo can be quite brutal;
The relatively short delay in starting the chemo will not have any detrimental impact on it's efficacy.
Just take this time to get yourself fully fit before you start the chemo.
