My husband has had an NG feeding tube placed today and tonight he can’t stop gagging, he’s got to stay in hospital while this NG tube is replaced by NJ tube so he’s in the right place for help and the staff there have been marvellous with him throughout his treatment, his treatment regime is 6weeks of radiotherapy with chemotherapy once a week, he finishes all of this next week but it has irritated his gullet that he can barely eat and his weight has gone down to 50.8kg, my question is - is this gagging normal? He says it feels like it’s coming from his throat rather than his stomach, what will happen if the gagging don’t stop?
thankyou in advance.
Hi Juerio, sorry to hear about your husband. I don’t have any personal experience with this, and I was wondering if you may want to also join the Carers only forum where you can also ask your question. You can also call the Macmillan support line for advice on 0808 808 00 00.
Hope this settles for him soon x
